A Day in the Life

While every day at APExL offers unique challenges and experiences, the structure remains consistent to ensure participants develop discipline and maximize their learning. Here’s what a typical day looks like:

6:00 AM – 6:30 AM: Wake-Up and Personal Hygiene
Participants start their day by preparing themselves mentally and physically for the challenges ahead.

6:30 AM – 7:30 AM: Physical Training (PT)
Daily PT sessions vary and include activities such as jiu-jitsu, lifting, team-based circuits, or mock fitness assessments. These sessions build grit, resilience, and a foundation of physical discipline.

7:30 AM – 8:00 AM: Breakfast
A nutritious meal provides fuel for the day and allows participants to bond with teammates in a relaxed setting.

8:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Morning Training Session
Morning sessions include hands-on experiences such as flying, firearms training, or wilderness first aid. Each activity ties directly to leadership principles, reinforcing discipline, ownership, and focus.

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch
Participants enjoy a break to recharge and reflect on the morning’s activities.

1:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Afternoon Training Session
Afternoons often involve team-based challenges such as leadership reaction courses, scuba diving, or large Group Leadership Projects (GLPs). These sessions emphasize communication, trust, and teamwork.

5:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Dinner
A well-earned meal provides time to unwind and strengthen connections with peers.

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Evening Reflection and Feedback
Participants debrief with instructors, journal about the day’s lessons, and receive individualized feedback. This time is critical for internalizing key takeaways and preparing for future challenges.

8:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Free Time
Participants can relax in their dorms, standardize their spaces, or complete assigned readings. This unstructured time encourages independence and personal accountability.

9:00 PM: Lights Out
A full night’s rest is essential to recover and prepare for the next day’s activities.

Safety and Supervision

Parents can feel secure knowing that:

  • Participants are supervised 24/7 by trained staff and certified professionals.
  • All activities, from SCUBA to rock climbing, are led by qualified instructors following strict safety protocols.
  • Medical support is available on-site, with every participant equipped with basic first-aid training.
